Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Advanced Level
Let's read and devour one full book a month, and gather together to discuss and decipher ALL LITERARY ELEMENTS: plot, subplots, characters, antagonist, protagonist, setting, rising action, crisis, climax, falling action, internal and external conflicts, suspense, foreshadowing, flashback, moral tones, heroes, villians, author's intent, and exciting resolutions! We won't even realize we are learning so much about literature as we enjoy each other's opinions and observations in this teacher-led discussion.

Parents, I have chosen books that I feel are age-appropriate - but please be sure you have evaluated whether your learner is ready to read both the content and volume of each book. Upon enrollment, it will be assumed that the books listed have parental approval and your blessing to be read and discussed.

Assigned chapters from monthly books should be read BEFORE the class period so your learner is prepared for discussion. Learners will secure their own copies of the books to protect authors' copyright.

WELCOME TO OUTSCHOOL - LEARN WITH ME HEADING INTO 2025 !!!

My classes are NEWLY REVISED and focused on developing strong 💪 and confident speaking skills 🎤for students who take classes online.

Each class is intentionally designed to be highly INTERACTIVE and very encouraging for the online learner.

In EVERY class, my goal is to make each learner feel like a million bucks💲 for every effort and contribution a student makes in my class! Your student can simply follow the path outlined below:

My youngest learners build confidence and poise interacting online through my signature class:

1. Public Speaking (SEMI-PRIVATE) Social Skills for Young Speakers (Ages 5-9) ANIMAL-THEMED!

This is my 🎉MOST POPULAR🎉 class because it provides an important foundation of confidence and fluency in public speaking, upon which students can continue to build in future online classes.

Here is where hundreds of new online students have blossomed into interactive and confident speakers, which is an invaluable skill in today's online world. This is a SEMI-PRIVATE CLASS with only FOUR students maximum, so that each learner gets multiple opportunities to speak with gentle encouragement and positive feedback.

2. For those super young learners (ages 3-6) who are ready to focus on pre-reading skills, I offer Interactive Word Families & Phonics w/ Writing.

This is an upbeat phonics class with beginner writing skills included on a colorful interactive worksheet! You won't believe how much we get done with sounding out words, matching sounds to pictures and writing our first letters.

3. After these classes, I recommend Reading & Public Speaking combined for ages 7-11 also with an animal theme!

For these slightly older students, we will take turns reading aloud about amazing living creatures, then give impromptu speeches about what we liked and remember in the reading passage. This is an amazing way to improve both your reading comprehension skills and public speaking confidence!

As a 20-Year Veteran Homeschool Teacher and mom, I highly value the socialization piece that needs to be a vital part of any homeschool or remote learning experience. In these hangouts, we make friends who are also homeschooling or learning remotely.

Teaching is my passion, as I have taught in many forums: public school, Christian school, homeschool, and in online education as well. As a home-educator of over 18 years, I taught all 7 of my children how to read with fluency starting at 4 years old and homeschooled them from preschool into college!

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with specialization in Learning Disabilities. I am a certified TESOL teacher for speakers of other languages.

I have a Master's Degree in Educational Administration as well. I bring over 7 years of online teaching experience to my platform with Outschool as an online teacher! I am a homeschooling mother of 7 kids in Kansas who loves to teach all subjects!

The last 25 years of my life have been spent teaching children of all ages in a wide variety of subject areas. I believe that we are always learning, and that learning needs to be engaging with the goal of retaining as much knowledge as we can while growing in our ability to apply new information to our daily lives.

I bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, and specialize in encouraging individual critical thinking skills, which just means your student will love engaging with me!

The pillar of my teaching is definitely my upbeat environment and the positive encouragement. Your student will feel confident and supported in all of my classes no matter what skill level he or she is currently working at. I invite you to delve into my public reviews to see how parents have shared their students' experiences in my classroom. I look forward to meeting NEW students in my classes very soon!
