Hello! My name is Dana Burton. As a lover of Math and Science, I enjoy teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts specifically at the preschool through the 2nd-grade level. Examples of these concepts include exploring the Life Cycles of Frogs and Plants through Science experiments and exploring number sense Math through building and engineering structures.

I received my Master of Science in Education Degree with a concentration in Adolescent Education and Teaching Students with Disabilities in 2014 from St. John’s University. This gave me a great understanding of curriculum adaptation and modification planning for students with varied skill sets. I have been a Special Education Teacher for 11 years supporting students with understanding Math & Science concepts by differentiating instruction and providing alternate lesson plans.

My philosophy for teaching is to create a safe and nurturing learning environment for students to discover and explore the world around them one concept at a time.

Although I am an Introvert, I’ve always wanted to be an Actress and Screenwriter. To date, I have appeared in 1 film as an extra and produced one short film.
