Full color vision and color vision deficiency are terms used. Terms like color blind vs normal vision are not promoted by me. 3. Learners can be empowered to self-advocate to receive access to education materials and other things in their lives. Depending on learner age and specific needs, here are the topics that may be covered in our private session: What is color vision deficiency? You are absolutely not alone! How common is CVD? What are the different types? How to know what type you have? Online testing and optician testing practices. What to say to the common "What color is this?" question. Common situations in your classroom and sports. School support options. 504? Self-acceptance/Self-determination Importance of self-advocating How to self-advocate? Optional resources for self: Tips and tricks for navigating having color vision deficiency (age varying) Optional resources for others: How to show and tell? Deep thoughts for older learners on color and language. Discussion on color vision glasses if requested. I have a few pairs I can show. (I am not affiliated with any product or company and will not be promoting or discouraging.) The advantages of not relying on color. Note: Resources may be shared about including a free color vision simulator app, free online color vision test options, and I will mention and even show if requested, a few types of color vision glasses my own child with color vision deficiency has. Choosing to pursue color vision glasses is an individual and family choice and I will only share my own observation and my child's opnion without promotion. Note: I have a Master of Science in Education: Curriculum and Instruction: Visual Disabilities with active DOE certifications including in Academic Visually Impaired Grades K-12. I am also a homeschooling parent of my own child who has color vision deficiency. My highest purpose in creating this private class is learner empowerment.
Resources will be shared including a free color vision simulator app, free online color vision test options, and I will mention and show the types of color vision glasses I personally have purchased for my own child with color vision deficiency. Choosing to pursue color vision glasses is an individual and family choice and I will only share my own child's experience without promotion.
