In this one-time class, students will learn how to do the two most basic stitches of embroidery, the running stitch and the stem stitch. Students will learn which fabrics work best for embroidery, what floss and needles to use, and how to stitch. Students will design and start stitching a project during class. This class will be a workshop where the teacher will demonstrate the stitches and the students will then practice them. Mrs. Borton is a patient and encouraging teacher and will help the students try their hand at learning how to do decorative stitches on fabric.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to do the stem stitch and the running stitch, while practicing their dexterity.

Parental Guidance
Students will be using needles and scissors during class. A parent may need to be present with younger students.
Supply List
Students will need the following supplies: 1. fabric in a plain color 2. embroidery floss in at least three colors 3. an embroidery hoop 4. needles for sewing/embroidery 5. scissors for cutting floss
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
