Readers Theatre is a class designed to improve students reading fluency by addressing their comprehension of text, accuracy, rate, volume and expression. Each student will have access to a teacher made Elephant and Piggie script and will be given a role. The teacher will assist students with decoding (if needed) and will model expressive reading. After several practice reads, the students will perform the final read independently. The teacher will end each class with a read aloud of the Mo Willems book that inspired the script. There will be fun prompts and visual cues which always add even more excitement to an entertaining class. Every week the script and book will be different, allowing the students to participate in scripts related to different themes and decode new words and phrases with expression.
