Class Experience

This 13 week flexible schedule art class will have videos hosted through Youtube (link only) of me teaching. You will be able to access the link from the Outschool classroom. This class is intended to be fun and introduce some basic art principals and artists. Some of the projects are more child led and some are projects you follow along with the video to complete.

This class will require you to have some art supplies that you may need to purchase. Supplies will be listed below. For each class students will be asked to watch the video and complete the art project. Students should post their creations in the classroom for their classmates to see. We will comment on each other's artwork, share, and give feedback.

The 13 weeks of class titles are:
Mushroom color wheel: We will learn about the color wheel and create our own with different types of mushrooms as the artwork on it
Castles: A quick look at castles around the world, a tutorial on how to make your own fun castle on paper
Savanna Pop Up Art: What animals and plants live in the savanna? Explore with me and then create a pop up savanna.
Van Gogh Flowers: Learn about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and then recreate one of his artworks
Luna Moth: a perfect intro to a study on life cycles! Let's make a Luna moth with watercolors
Campfire: use your skills to create a campfire. Have you ever been camping?
Treasure Map: Ahoy! Let's create a treasure map and explore the seas
Phoenix: the story of the bird who rises from the ashes. This bright bird on black or white paper is sure to be fun.
Roller coaster: this roller coaster project has some magnetic science too. Your coaster car will really move!
High Rise Mural: Learn about artist Okuda and create an inspired High Rise Mural of your own
Beetle: Let's draw a beetle! Another great addition to life cycles too.
Tropical Tree Lungs: You need your lungs to breathe and trees help us by giving us oxygen. The fun science/art combo project will combine tropical trees and human lungs
Farmer Truck Trouble: Oh no! All the apples are falling off the truck! Have a kid who loves vehicles? This one is sure to be a hit.

Look in the supply area to find a list of supplies you need.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Young students may need help cutting and will need supervision with art supplies so that your area stays clean-ish. I wouldn't suggest leaving the room while your child has paint, scissors, glue, etc. The magnets will need hot glue, which should be done by the adult only. Some materials may pose a choking hazard.
