Class Experience

It's time for Science class! Together, we will explore relationships among all living things. In this class, students will discover that all energy on earth begins with the sun. That energy results in food for all living things. Students will learn and apply the following vocabulary: predator, prey, photosynthesis, food chain, food web, producer, consumer (primary, secondary), herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, scavengers, and decomposers.
Mrs. Rebecca will use PowerPoint to introduce new concepts. While using the PowerPoint, she will act as a facilitator of learning as she allows for ample practice with new material, student discovery, interactions with classmates and teacher, and critical thinking.

This is a basic-level course. No prior knowledge is needed.

A special thanks goes out to “Teaching Curious Kids” for allowing me to purchase and revise the PowerPoint used in this lesson. Here is a link to their store: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Teaching-Curious-Kids

Teacher expertise and credentials
Mrs. Rebecca loves the quote, “Teaching isn’t my job. It’s my passion.” She has had this passion from the beginning. Her teddy bears learned a lot, with her bedroom-sized chalkboard and old textbooks from her mom’s elementary classroom. It was no surprise to anyone when she sought and gained her Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) degree in 2001.
That fall, she began her teaching career in a self-contained 6th grade classroom. Since then, she has taught all core subject areas in grades 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in a Tennessee public school system. As a dedicated public school teacher, she spent countless hours planning lessons, creating materials, researching for best practices, collaborating with co-workers, and combing through student data. Her students consistently showed academic growth on state testing.
In 2018, Mrs. Rebecca resigned from teaching with public schools to teach online. She initially made this change to spend more time with her wonderful husband and two beautiful children. Through this she discovered that she loves teaching online and meeting students from all over the world!
Mrs. Rebecca also currently teaches homeschool students through a local tutorial in-person and online. She loves teaching courses to Elementary students, as well as middle and high school students!
No matter the setting, Mrs. Rebecca always looks for ways to encourage learners to bring their own experiences and expertise to class. She loves learning from her students, as well as capitalizing on what they already know.
Please check out one of Mrs. Rebecca's classes! She looks forward to meeting you soon!
