What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
In this exciting full year ongoing class learners will explore the basic principals of earth science specifically, scope of earth science, geology, types of rocks, minerals & gems, structure of the earth, weathering & erosion, water cycle, weather, and atmosphere biological molecules & atoms, biochemistry, cellular make-up, cellular respiration & energy. This class is a semester long ongoing class that Part that will cover earth science at the middle school level (UK System Key Stage 3). Learners will be able to participate in a live lessons, share ideas, and ask questions. Learners will be able to complete up to four hands-on laboratory activities, useful and demonstrative videos, helpful practice problems, live demonstration labs. Learners have the option to use the master supply list if they wish to complete the experiments with me. One week prior to each class a detailed daily class supply list, based on master supply list, will be provided. Learners will be able to interact and collaborate ideas with classmates during the class. Each will be encouraged to fully participate in each day's experiment. Parental Guidance
If the students desire to complete experiments along with me, parental supervision/oversight is suggested. All supplies are safe and common household items, however, the sequence of events are important for experiment success and fun. Students and parents are advised household chemicals and/or foods may cause sensitivity or allergy in some learners or individuals. Parental supervision and awareness of any allergies or other issues is encouraged.
Supply List
Cost for materials is $40-50 - the labware and tools are a one time upfront cost. Supplies list will be provided close to class start date.
1 file available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Master's Degree in Science from University of Alabama
Bachelor's Degree in Science from University of South Carolina
I am a middle school and high school math and science teacher with 10 years of experience. Additionally, I am a homeschooling dad of 15+years who has four kids that are four different types of learners.
I have the privilege to teach many subject areas, but geology & chemistry are my favorite as they applies to all other areas of science. My opinion is that if a student understands the these major concepts, other sciences become more clear.
I hold a MS and BS in the natural sciences.
