*Free first week for new Outschool students use the code RACHAEL2020 when signing up* Earth Science 101 will take students on an adventure of learning all about the Earth! Students will learn what the Earth is made up of, rocks and minerals, as well as natural disasters and weather. This class will be an interactive lecture with hands-on activities. This is an introductory class to Earth Science students will not need any prior knowledge, but having had some experience in other science classes would be beneficial. Each week the students will get a challenge question as homework and their progress will be assessed through check for understanding questions given through each class. Week 1- Intro to the Earth- students will be making a model of the earth. Week 2- Rocks and Minerals- students will be learning about the different types of rocks and mineral found on/in Earth. Week 3- Plate tectonics- students will learn about earth plates and how they move with a hands-on activity. Week 4- Natural Disasters- students will learn about the different natural disaster that can happen and why they happen. Week 5- Meteorology- students will learn about Earths atmosphere.
