Class Experience

It's time to celebrate Earth Day!! Class will start with an engaging game of Kahoot where we will learn more about Earth Day and what we can do to help our planet. Then we'll use the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, by reusing items from our recycle bin to make some art. While students are encouraged to make what they wish, I will be modeling how to make flower from paper and cereal boxes.

Not familiar with Kahoot? No worries! Kahoot is an online educational game where students can engage in a trivia style lesson. Kahoot works best if students have another device (phone, tablet or Ipad) to access it on seperate from how they are accessing the Outschool Zoom. Kahoot can be accessed as a web site or as an app.

Students will need construction paper, scissors, glue, and recycled materials (newspapers, magazines, food boxes, etc.)

Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.

In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
