Beginner Level
This class is written to achieve the National Standards for Music Education. APPROACH Taught with an exploratory model, learners will be given direct instruction for technique and mechanics of performing on the harp. There will also be guidance for improving and outside of class activities to continue learning. Performers are encouraged to explore music creation with the harp using an originally composed packet of songs created by the teacher, a harp performer, and space will be given for learners to create their own music and share their ideas. Compositions have the option to be written down or may be improvised, depending on the learner preference. CAPSTONE PERFORMANCE On the final day, learners will have a formal program where we will play in 3 ways: 1. as a class 2. in duets (if applicable) 3. as individuals performing music This is a fun way to recap all of the class experience and learners can include the program in their portfolios.
