Kids & Keys: Beginning Piano Class Part 3

Early Intermediate Piano - Small Group Class - Level P

Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(188)
In this 8-meeting intermediate piano course, students will expand upon the keyboard skills they have developed in Early Intermediate Piano - Level O.

Class experience

Please note: This class picks up where Early Intermediate Piano Level O leaves off. Prospective students should be familiar with major and minor triads/scales and one-octave arpeggios. Sight reading music is essential to this class so prospective students should be comfortable with reading music in the Level 3B Piano Adventures series (material from Level O). In this class, students will explore expressiveness in music while exploring chord inversions, two octave scales & arpeggios dotted eighth to sixteenth notes and discovering the stylistic traits of Edvard Grieg and Scott Joplin.
I have been teaching piano for over 13 years. I have a Master's Degree in Music Education and a Bachelor's Degree of Art in Music. I am a touring musician and am currently recording my second solo album.
Homework Offered
Please note: Students will need to practice a minimum of 2 hours every week to stay on top of class material. Sight-reading fluency is essential to learning class pieces. Weekly practice is essential to learn new material.
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will offer feedback after students perform an exercise and, if needed, provide suggestions to help the student master the concept. Mistakes are a part of learning a musical instrument! So students should not worry if they play the exercise or a piece correct on the first try. Together we will learn how to progress through new music and learn new musical concepts.
Grades Offered
Please note: The class book will be Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 4 (Orange cover/2nd edition). For advanced students, I also recommend getting Piano Adventures Performance Book Level 4. I may assign additional pieces for advanced students from the performance book or if the student is ahead in class work. The links for both books are below.

Lesson Book 4: https://pianoadventures.com/product/piano-adventures-level-4-lesson-book-2nd-edition/ ($9.99)
Performance Book 4: https://pianoadventures.com/product/piano-adventures-level-4-performance-book-2nd-edition/ ($8.99)

For students struggling with sight-reading (or would like extra review), I highly recommend the Level 4 Sight-reading book: https://pianoadventures.com/product/piano-adventures-level-4-sightreading-book/ ($8.99)
