Class Experience

In this ongoing Dungeons & Dragons course we will cover such academic subjects as understanding mythology from the view point of those living through it, how history can effect the present, how geographical locations can effect the evolution of cultures, ecology, ethics, economics, creative storytelling and much more.

In this course, all players have the option to select a premade character or create one during the game. Once chosen, they will be introduced to the ongoing narrative of our adventure. When new players join our party, they will have the opportunity to create characters that seamlessly fit into our story. This allows them to meet the existing group and receive valuable guidance on character building while also sharing aspects of our previous adventures. Our table is welcoming and inclusive, embracing individuals from LGBTQ and BIPOC communities.

The world that has been built for this game, was made to help the students have discussions with their peers as they plan to solve a myriad of trials in the narrative of our game.

Opening Adventure Overview:

In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker seeks your aid. He has discovered something big in the uncharted depths of the Phandelver's Mine and needs a capable group to escort a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin. But be warned, for the path ahead is riddled with bandits, outlaws, and untamed wilderness.

Gather your companions and prepare for an epic adventure as you traverse the Triboar Trail, encountering treacherous foes and forging alliances along the way. Uncover the secrets of Phandalin, a once-thriving town now plagued by lawlessness and ancient enigmas. Delve deep into the Mines of Phandelver, where forgotten riches and perilous encounters await those brave enough to face the darkness within.

As you navigate a web of intrigue, choose your path carefully. Will you lend a hand to the desperate locals, forging friendships that endure beyond this quest? Or will greed and ambition cloud your judgment, leading you down a darker path? The choices you make will shape not only your own fate but the destiny of Phandalin itself.

Are you ready to face the challenges that await? Gather your courage, sharpen your blades, and set forth on a quest that will define your legacy. The Mines of Phandelver await your arrival. Adventure beckons!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I started gaming when I was 10 years old and instantly fell in love with it. It gave me a creative outlet and a playground to learn about the world and important issues like history, social justice, team work and problem solving.

Over the last 30 years, I have run thousands of games and have even had the joy of teaching my own 3 kids the art of role playing (Ages 14, 11 and 7).

I look forward to speaking with you soon and adventuring with you!

My Character Sheet:
•Highly skilled in creating and advancing a games story while keeping forward momentum in the group.
•Experienced in creating challenges for players that stretch both their skills and imagination.
•Level 20 Sorcerer when it comes to improvisation. After 35 years of running games, I can handle just about anything that the party can throw at me.
•+10 to organization skills. Player forgot their character sheet? New player shows up mid game? I have you covered.
•+10 to charisma. I speak fluent nerd and understand that joining a new group can be intimidating so I go out of my way to make everyone feel welcome. I am proficient at teaching new players how to play pen and paper role playing games.
•Level 20 Bard (with an epic boon). You will be hard pressed to find a more professional story-teller, verse maker, music composer or oral historian. I love to weave music and props into my story to immerse the player in interactive game play.
•Multi-tasker. I am able to run multiple NPC’s and story lines seamlessly weaving them into the story without breaking character or focus.
•Game Master mentoring available. Looking to offer something unique to your friends? I have experience teaching others how to be dungeon or game masters.
•Great with kids. I love introducing kids to the hobby and have experience working with ages 5-18, including those with learning challenges.
