In this six episode course, students will experience a full Dungeons and Dragons adventure from start to finish. My second custom campaign created just for Outschool learners is designed to continue development and mastery of the basic rules over the course of four story driven sessions. Students will engage in exciting combat and meaningful roleplay meant to cultivate not only their game knowledge, but also their logic, creativity, and cooperation. After enrolling, learners will have access to a collection of both digital and printable handouts and optional supplemental materials to enhance gameplay. This includes full color maps, character sheets, and adventure backstory booklet. This class assumes at least some basic familiarity with Dungeons and Dragons, or with tabletop roleplaying games in general. For absolute beginners, I recommend first taking my one-time introductory course on Outschool titled: "Dungeons and Dragons Crash Course for Absolute Beginners", followed by my introductory adventure: "Dungeons and Dragons Beginners Adventure: The Red Raven". Notes: Full character creation will not be covered in this class. Instead, I will provide a selection of premade characters to choose from - or bring your own! Learners will not be required to log into another website or service to play. I will broadcast the virtual tabletop and 3D dice rolling directly through Zoom video for maximum compatibility. This means students can use any device they would normally use for any other Outschool class without the need for a keyboard or mouse.
Learning Goals
This class is focused on continuing to master the basics of the Dungeons and Dragons player's ruleset. When the adventure concludes, students will feel comfortable and confident in core gameplay including combat, spell and magic use, skill use and resting, social roleplay, and plenty of lesser known or tricky rules that often trip up beginners.
On top of learning game-specific rules and mechanics, students will be engaged in an ongoing guided lesson of interpersonal group dynamics, sharing responsibility and trust, and conflict resolution in pursuit of a common goal

Hello! I'm Joey and I'm excited to meet you. As a parent, I understand how vital early childhood education is. The fact that you are here, searching for the best instructor for your learners, means that you know how important it is too. I take this responsibility seriously, and work hard to provide individual attention and support to all of my students.
I've worked professionally as a software developer, as well as an adjunct college professor teaching introductory and advanced computer programming courses. My passions and class topics are wide ranging, from tabletop role-playing games to 3D modeling, astronomy, and art! To each of my classes I bring the same philosophy: that we truly grow when we connect what we learn to what is important to us. No matter if it's academic study or a social activity, I teach with the intention of inspiring students to make those connections and get excited about learning. I can't wait to see you in class!
