We'll be playing DND 5th edition Lost Mine of Phandelver and I will be your Game Master. This is a beginner level class and learners will be guided through creating their character on Roll20. I will provide instructions for joining in the classroom. Join us for a famous introductory adventure into the world of 5e D&D. We will assist each other in a supportive role-playing environment and co-create our adventure. Although this is a ready made campaign, the decisions we make will affect the direction it takes. You can join at any point in the adventure! Every class we will review our character sheets to make sure we understand how to use them and we will allow 10 minutes at the start of every class to answer questions about our stats and what they mean. This allows us a chance to incorporate new learners. As your DM, I will send you a sheet to fill out and take pictures of or scan/fill out and send it back to me at which point I will upload your character to roll20. I will send you an invite to the game before class and away we go! Session topics will be learner-directed or dictated weekly due to current events/happenings *This course directly relates to B.C. Curricular Competencies for ELA Grades 4-12 under Comprehend and connect (reading, listening, viewing) Create and communicate (writing, speaking, representing). Week 1: Character Building Week 2: Getting our heads around RP and interacting with the environment. Session topics will be learner-directed or dictated weekly due to current events/happenings. Late Joining? If you join a little later in the adventure, that is just fine. We will bring you up to date with a quick summary and introduction of your character and away we roll! Let's discover D&D together!

Other Details
Parental Guidance
While we will keep the content age appropriate, there will be monsters, battles, and otherworldly magic. I will not be graphic in my descriptions of battles or if characters die (will happen very rarely) it will be handled very gently. Please let me know if you need me to make accommodations for your child.
I will also be using https://roll20.net/ to host the game and will provide instructions in the class for students to join. Please check out the site to make sure you understand how to navigate it. A free account is required to use it.
A character sheet will be sent to learners upon their registration. This will need to be returned to me (the DM) at least 2 days in advance of class so that I can upload your information to be ready to play on Roll20.
