Class Experience

🛡️ Adventure Overview: Descend into the Undermountain! 🛡️

Beneath the bustling city of Waterdeep lies the Yawning Portal, an infamous inn with a dark secret: a massive, gaping pit that leads to the treacherous dungeon known as Undermountain. This labyrinth is ruled by the mad wizard Halaster Blackcloak, who has filled its depths with monsters, traps, and mysteries. 🎲✨

In this campaign, you and your fellow adventurers will journey deeper and deeper beneath the streets, facing danger at every turn. Only by working together will you survive the challenges Halaster has prepared. Will you uncover the secrets of the Undermountain? 🧙‍♂️⚔️

📅 Weekly Schedule:
Each week, students will face a new dungeon challenge in the Undermountain! Whether you "drop in" for a single class or join every week, there’s always a new adventure waiting. 🏰

🎯 Who Will Love This Class?

Experienced players: This campaign is for those who have completed at least one campaign.

Explorers: Adventurers who love discovering new places and solving complex puzzles.

Team players: Those who enjoy collaborating to overcome difficult obstacles.

📝 Student Expectations

Our D&D club values teamwork, inclusivity, and support for fellow players. While the campaign has a competitive edge, collaboration is key! All students must follow our philosophy of helping and uplifting each other. Any deliberate attempts to harm another player’s experience or make someone feel excluded may result in removal from the course—without refund—at the discretion of the DM and head teacher, Adam Scott. 🌟🤝

🎮 New to RPGs?

RPGs are all about you and your character! Your choices shape the story and determine the outcome, whether it’s a heroic victory or an unexpected twist. Think of it as stepping into your favorite book or movie, but you’re the hero! These games are fun, immersive, and they teach you valuable skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and communication—without you even noticing! ⚔️🌍

Note to parents/students:

Some students may wish to use DnD Beyond for their character sheet. Account set up needs to happen before the session begins using a gmail or apple account. Per DnDBeyond.com policies, parents are required to set these accounts up using their own login credentials to comply with federal data security regulations. Students are never asked to enter any personal information into any websites by our instructors.

Families who do not wish to use DNDBeyond.com are still more than welcome to sign up for the course as we love "old school" paper character sheets!
Learning Goals
Students will get to experience all that a roleplaying game has too offer: teamwork, problem solving, social interaction, and basic statistical calculations. Through the process of playing, their characters will develop and evolve, leading to discussions with the instructor and other players about applying skills in a game setting.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence. Also, this is a challenging campaign where character death is a real possibility. Players should be prepared for this occurrence.
Supply List
Students will be asked to bring a level five character to the course. Details will be provided regarding character creation upon signup.

Some students may wish to use DnD Beyond for their character sheet. Account set up needs to happen before the session begins using a gmail or apple account. Per DnDBeyond.com policies, parents are required to set these accounts up using their own login credentials to comply with federal data security regulations for students under the age of 13. Students are never asked to enter any personal information into any websites by our instructors.

The use of DnDBeyond.com is not required for play, and we love helping players use "old school" character sheets!
