Intermediate Level
This class focuses on the use of silence and space between drumming patterns by incorporating stick tricks. As an introductory course, this light-hearted, fun way to develop stick control, balance, and spatial awareness is not intended for mastery. We will learn 6 different tricks, spend time discussing how to practice, how to take breaks, and make the effort to incorporate the tricks into sample patterns. Learners will have 4 different rhythm patterns of which they can choose their favorite patterns and their favorite tricks and combine them! They can also rewrite the music to accommodate their style and ideas. The class will close with a learner performance of their chosen patterns and tricks to practice sharing for the class. This will prepare them for any tricks they have mastered or plan on mastering to share with an audience.
