What will be taught? This course will teach students the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, including how to identify opportunities, build a brand, create a product or service, develop a financial plan, and market their ideas. By the end of the class, students will have a solid understanding of how to start and manage their own small business. What topics will you cover? The definition and importance of entrepreneurship Identifying a niche and target audience Branding basics (name, logo, and slogan creation) Designing a product or service Budgeting, pricing, and understanding profit margins Marketing strategies, including social media and word-of-mouth promotion Preparing for launch day and customer interactions Presentation skills through a final business showcase How is your class structured? The class will meet once a week for eight weeks. Each session is 50 minutes long and includes: A mini-lecture introducing key concepts (10-15 minutes) Interactive discussions and brainstorming activities (10-15 minutes) Hands-on exercises like creating a brand or financial plan (20 minutes) Time for questions and personalized feedback (5 minutes) Each week builds upon the previous, allowing students to develop their business step by step. How will you teach? I will use a combination of teaching methods to keep students engaged and excited: Slides to introduce key concepts visually Discussion to encourage sharing ideas and collaboration Hands-on activities like logo design or product brainstorming Real-world examples and stories to make concepts relatable Optional short video clips showcasing successful young entrepreneurs Interactive games and quizzes to reinforce learning What's your teaching style? I focus on making learning fun, interactive, and practical. I balance structure with creativity, guiding students to think critically while allowing space for their ideas to flourish. My approach is supportive and encouraging, helping students build confidence as they progress. How much will learners get to interact with you? Students will interact with me regularly throughout the class. This includes: Live discussions during each session Feedback on their projects and ideas Opportunities to ask questions and receive personalized guidance Class participation in brainstorming activities and games By the end of the course, students will have created a fully developed business plan and gained the skills and confidence to launch their own entrepreneurial ventures. This interactive, hands-on learning experience is perfect for kids who are ready to dream big and take action!
Learning Goals

Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Texas Tech University
I have a degree in Business Finance and 10 years of experience working in the corporate world, where I developed expertise in budgeting, financial planning, and project management. I also have over 13 years of experience as a homeschool educator, teaching a variety of subjects to my two children, including entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
For the past four years, I’ve taught entrepreneurship and modern history to middle and high school students in a homeschool co-op setting. In this role, I’ve successfully guided students through developing business ideas, creating budgets, and presenting their products and services at entrepreneur fairs.
Additionally, I’ve reached the top level in my own network marketing business, which has given me hands-on experience in branding, marketing, sales, and leadership.
