Please note that there are 2 class listings for different age groups: -8-13 y.o. -14-18 y.o. Learners do not need to have any prior knowledge or skills of drawing heads since this is an introductory class. Learn the way artists approach drawing heads from scratch, that allows for the most flexibility, originality and creativity! In this class we will learn the foundation of drawing men's heads and placement of the features (starting simple, with no shading or building the features in this class). Built and moulded upon simple 3D shapes, the head once an intimidating structure, can be easily understood and mapped out. Imagining the head as a 3D shape that can be picked up and moved around, we will be able to advance the drawings to be convincing and dynamic. By the end of class, students will have the foundational knowledge to be able to accurately draw the fundamental shape of the average man's head from the front. Learners will be able to understand how professional artists approach drawing heads. For this class we will learn the general placement of the features but we will not go too in depth into fitting and moulding them into the face. Learning to draw while thinking in 3D shapes is an extremely important skill for beginner artists, as it will aid them going forward in drawing any kind of head, whether it be men's, women's, children's, cartoons, anime etc and moving them into different poses. Students will first be verbally taught the breakdown of the structure of the head into simple shapes and proportions with 3D aids and drawn examples. Then together with live guidance on a second camera to capture the drawing steps and continual progress checks, with Ms. Ali, learners will draw the foundation of head. Similar to constructing a building before putting windows in, we will first get the solid foundation of the head established, so this class will focus more on the foundation of the head rather than fitting in the features just yet. Future classes will focus on the moulding of the features and turning the head in different directions and poses. Credit for video music: Music by @reggiesanmiguel (Instagram) - Ruby Grapefruit
