Class Experience

Fur, Scales, Feathers and more!

This is a FLEX class. There are NO LIVE MEETINGS.

ABOUT
In this flex class, learners will learn some drawing techniques about shapes, texture, and tones to help them draw animals. Learners will have the option to follow along the pre-recorded video while I draw from an example, or if they are advanced, they can use the skills they learned in order to draw the animal in their own way. Each week, learners will work on a new drawing.

HOW IT WORKS:
There are no live meetings as this is a FLEX class. Videos are pre-recorded, giving students the chance to follow along at their own pace. Videos will be available each Monday before late afternoon. The drawing example will also be posted in the classroom page each Monday and will be available for reference to enrolled learners. Learners are welcome to post their drawings publicly on the classroom home page or privately in the learner messaging section at the end of the week or when they finish. Recorded assessments and praise will be available the day after in the classroom or messaging section that the artwork was sent. Questions are welcome at any time and will be given a response within 24 hours.

MATERIALS:
paper, pencils, erasers, sharpeners

SCHEDULE:
*Learner's are welcome to draw from their imagination or personal photos.
*Examples from class are all in the thumbnail photo above in case learners would like to draw along.
Day 1 - Frog (shapes, tone, perspective)
Day 2 - Cat (shapes, texture)
Day 3 - Bird (shapes, tone, texture)
Day 4 - Dog (shapes, tone, texture)
Day 5 - Snake head (shapes and structure)

My goal on Outschool is not only for learners to have fun, but most importantly for learners to learn key techniques about shapes, tones, textures, perspective, etc. that they can apply to any drawing. My hope is that learners take what they learn in class and apply it to their drawings at home as they steadily improve and become more confident. I can't wait to meet you all!

Learning Goals

Learners will learn about shapes, tone, texture, and some perspective while drawing different animals! These techniques are applicable to any drawing in any style!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated from Grand Central Atelier in New York City where I was trained to draw and paint realistically in a traditional way. While I usually draw realistically, I also enjoy using this approach to draw in different styles. My goal is to teach children the tools of drawing and give them the opportunity to practice applying them so that they will be able to draw what they want independently.
