Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Today’s course will begin with a brief introduction of myself and each of the students. They are welcome to bring their Pokedex or playing cards to show one of their favorite Pokemon. The drawing will begin with a rough sketch, where I will be teaching 2 core elements in art: Shape and Form. This portion will be mostly instructional and I will ask if there are questions frequently. The next part is shading where I will be focusing more on tone and value, 2 more elements found in art. This part can be up to the Learner’s creativity and imagination! During this part we can talk about Pokemon facts and games, just having a fun conversation. Finally we will be using a black pen or marker (preferably fine point) to add the outline and final touches to our sketches, where I will be focusing on the last element of the course, line. I strive to upkeep a fun and exciting class with as much room for creativity and conversation as possible. For the end of class, learners are welcome to show everyone their drawing, and sign and date them if they choose. There is no required knowledge for this class, as I want it to be as open to everyone who wants to learn more about drawing!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about using simple lines and shapes to form larger pictures and characters. This skill can help with depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive skills with decision-making in early development.
I would love for students to be able to take these elements and be able to see them in the world surrounding them, and by teaching the simplicity of the elements, they will be able to break down complicated objects into simpler images, colors and tones.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and Welcome! My name is Paige and I love doing art, and being able to share my passion with others makes me even more thrilled to be here!

I have an Associate in English and a BA in Fine Art. I have been working with businesses as well as doing personal commissions for a little over 3 years now. Like the infamous Bob Ross, I believe everyone can paint if they practice and, most importantly, find joy in it.

My classes are upbeat and fun, and we learn about animals and Pokémon together while getting to make memories and build skills with painting. I want to be able to build communication skills in artistic ways like being able to break down and describe objects or scenery, expressing and critiquing art politely and helpfully, and much more as we go along!

Some fun facts about myself are that I love reading and writing, painting, and especially animals, and I have a Leopard Gecko, turtle, scorpion, spider, and Betta fish that I would love to share with the class too, as well as any other crawlers I find while out and about. My bug-catching kit is ready and with me at all times!
