What's included
4 live meetings
3 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will follow along with live drawing demonstrations, learning about the structure of the human face and how to draw it using step-by-step processes as well as tips on how to tackle tricky areas of drawing. We will practice these together, and during the week students will receive feedback on any drawings they complete on their own. Course Breakdown: Week 1: The Face in Parts I will introduce (or reintroduce for some students) drawing fundamentals such as breaking complex forms down into simple shapes. I will also demonstrate how to draw the various parts of the face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth) by themselves. Week 2: Systematic Portraits Using what we've learned so far, we will draw an imaginary person's face together using a step-by-step process. We will discuss the anatomy of the face in detail and use that knowledge to adjust our drawings as we make them. Week 3: Profile & Details I will demonstrate how to systematically draw the profile (from the side) as well as cover how to add finishing touches, such as hair and wrinkles, in greater detail. Week 4: Final Touches I will demonstrate how to draw real-life people from reference using either a drawing grid (easy but slow) or using the Bargue method (difficult but fast). Students will be encouraged to supply their own reference this week (printed out or on their computers).

Supply List
Each learner must have some type of erasable drawing media: usually but not necessarily a pencil and paper. The teacher will be using a drawing tablet for his demonstrations, but the lessons are media-neutral; learners may use whatever they wish to draw. Students should also have a ruler and (for the final class) a printed image of any face they wish to draw. It will be more difficult to follow along with some of the lessons without these.
