I always teach by showing. Artists will go at their own pace and I wait before showing the next step. I break everything into shapes. This lesson is not only about learning to shade but also learning where to place the apple on the paper, what direction to place the paper, vertical or horizontal. I teach by example but also by repeating details in case a student may have missed something. Practice sheets will be sent to each artist prior to the lesson so they can practice the different shading techniques. No prior knowledge of drawing or shading is needed.
Learning Goals
Each artist learns to draw lightly and build up details. Development of each students style is key so they build confidence to challenge their own creative interests. Shading is so important to make something look not only more interesting but more realistic. Patience is also a lesson that adds to everything that is needed in creativity so that will be part of our lesson even if it is not mentioned as so- but taught in taking time to enjoy and slow down and add details.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have always been interested in art. My artist Mom had me paint and draw with her. I studied at Arizona State University majoring in fine art and at Palm Beach State College for my graphic design degree.
I have owned two shops that sold my creations, I've painted murals and designed faux finishes for commercial and residential settings throughout the U.S. The best part of my career is teaching drawing and painting.
My teaching style is that I believe all students learn at their own pace and I teach in steps to enhance each student's learning experience. The classes I will be offering are: drawing using #2 pencil, watercolor pencil, Sharpie markers, Copic Markers, and ink pens. Painting: watercolors, acrylics and guache. Sculpting using sculpey and air dry clay.
My dog Max is a Malchi ( a mix between Maltese and Chihuahua) and brings me great joy with his funny personality!
