Description

Class Experience

○ In this lesson, we will go through steps of drawing an ice cream cone together, and then talk about ways we can make our drawings look more realistic and three-dimensional just by adding shading.
○ Students will learn the skill of cross-hatching, overlaying tiny lines to create a variation in dark to light.
○ Students will have the chance to make their own creative decisions along the way (toppings, number of scoops, etc.), and to ask questions throughout.
○ At the end, they will be able to...

○ Students will learn shading and cross-hatching techniques
○ Students will learn one method of rendering an ice cream form
○ Students will gain an understanding of the use of different values in a drawing

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, and have seven years of teaching experience.

No homework is assigned, but students are welcome to add color to their drawings after the lesson if they wish.

○ Paper
○ Pencil with eraser
○ Sharpener (if handy)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
