This is an ongoing class. You can join any time; each week I tell two different stories! Young artists love my story pictures. Instead of confusing and boring directions, I tell an engaging story. My story picture lessons teach two basic drawing techniques; straight and curvy lines, which are the building blocks of art. As I tell the story, I demonstrate simple drawing steps which students copy. As the story slowly unfolds a picture appears. This unique drawing approach will teach students art methods in a fun and engaging way while building their confidence. Students learn problem solving and brainstorming techniques while engaging their creativity! Students will be encouraged to share their drawings at the end of the session. ( NOTE: This class lasts for 20 weeks. After 20 weeks I will start the stories over from the beginning)

a few pieces of paper, a few pencils in case one breaks, an eraser and something to draw with (pencils , crayons, markers)

Hello! My name is Patti Barber and I have been an art teacher in Marlton, New Jersey since 2004 and an English as a Second Language teacher since 2017. When it comes to art, my number one rule in my classroom is the nothing has to be perfect. I show my students how to transform their so called "mistakes" into beautiful and creative masterpieces. I feel it is my job to encourage and to foster the confidence so all children feel like artists. In 2017 I joined VIPKID teaching English to children in China over the internet. I love teaching over the internet and I look forward to connecting with my students across the globe each day. I make learning English fun while still correcting pronunciation. I am encouraging and patient with my ESL learners so they will feel confident to speak. I enjoy reading (weekly trips to the public library is a must in my house), traveling with my family (our current quest is to see all 50 states - currently visited 28/50) and sharing my love of history with my kids (touring historical houses is a must on all our trips).
