1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will learn how to draw anime & manga style faces in profile (side) view. We will look at how to draw the shape of the face, eyes, mouth, nose, ears, and neck when the head is turned to the side. We will explore a variety of ways to draw the eyes and mouth from this angle. If time allows, we will discuss how to modify hair when viewed from the side. It is recommended that students take “Drawing Anime & Manga Style Faces for Beginners” first, to learn how to draw an anime head facing straight ahead; however, it is not required.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Emily. I’m a teacher, writer, yogi, and artist. I have a passion for words, movement, art, and food! It brings me so much joy to see young learners discover new interests. I am delighted to be able to help them explore new topics and fan the flames of their interest.
My philosophy is that learning should be fun. In class, I love getting to know my students. I want to hear their thoughts and give them the tools to pursue their passions.
On Outschool, I am excited to offer classes in drawing in anime/manga style. I have a variety of classes that focus on different aspects of drawing. My class list is continually growing. I love to share what I am passionate about with young learners and encourage their ideas and interests.
One of the things that makes me unique as a teacher is my wide range of teaching experience. I have worked with students in kindergarten, middle school, college, and beyond. I have taught students in the USA, South Korea, and China. I have taught classes online and in person. These experiences make me a well-rounded teacher accustomed to adapting teaching style and lesson content to a wide range of students’ needs.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Dance and English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Wesleyan University. I have also completed yoga teacher training and studied traditional Irish singing at the University of Limerick. Both of my parents are artists, and I have a life-long passion for the arts. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college age. I have taught subjects including dance, art, Spanish, and more. I recently spent four years living in South Korea where I taught English as a second language in public middle schools and private kindergarten.
When I am not teaching, I can be found reading, dancing, working on my latest novel, or playing with my cats.
