Draw Kawaii Cats With Me!

Drawing Animals: How To, Inspiration, and Engagement Even After Class Ends

Average rating:4.7Number of reviews:(48)
This class is meant to show students how to better draw animals, and to inspire them to spend time drawing on their own.

Class experience

The goal is to engage students in the skill of drawing, give them a drawing foundation they can use and build upon, and then use the lessons from this class to spend time independently drawing the animals they love and are interested in.

Another goal is to increase the students' confidence, excitement, and independence when it comes to their drawing skill.

In drawing terms, students will learn how to “plan” a drawing, about how to begin a successful work, contour line, shape, basic value concept and basic value concept.
I studied art in college, am a working artist now, and have a lot of job experience working with animals (as a vet nurse, as an equestrian, as a wildlife worker) and with children (as a teacher, as a nursery worker, as a camp counselor).
I have loved animals my whole life, and they remain a favorite subject to study and sketch.

 1 file available upon enrollment
Students will need: 1. 3 pencils (graphite or charcoal. 1 pencil is fine but students will need to sharpen it more than those with 3) 2. An eraser (I use the large “pink pearl” eraser, but any eraser is fine as long as the student has plenty to work with, aka not an almost worn out pencil eraser). 3. Un-lined or copy paper (a simple unruled sketchbook or notebook works well, if only to cut back on clutter and possibly lost works, but loose paper is just fine as well)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
