In this one time class, students will talk to other learners about what kind of superhero they would want to be. Students will spend the class time drawing a picture of themselves as a superhero. Each student will share what skills they have and how that would make them a great superhero. Students should bring a piece of paper to class as well as crayons or colored pencils. They will share their superhero self portrait with the class once completed. Students can expect to see a short video clip in class to give them an idea of what a superhero may look like. This is not a drawing tutorial class, but rather a discussion based drawing class that requires the students to use their own creativity to make their superhero. PART ONE: The students will watch a short video of superheroes. PART TWO: The teacher will share with the students 5 tips to follow when designing their own superhero. PART THREE: The students will begin drawing their own superhero while discussing what superheroes they know and which is their favorite. PART FOUR: The students will each present their superhero. They will show their drawing and tell us about it. (not required but encouraged) *If there is extra time, the students may share with the class any Marvel/DC/etc superhero paraphernalia they have at home.
