Class Experience

Students will be shared with tips and tricks to draw animals, birds, and objects using numbers, letters and shapes. They will also be encouraged to be creative as they draw. Every student will then "show and tell" their artwork in a short class presentation to improve communication skills.

A different artwork will be done every week. In the first week, we will draw a cat. In the upcoming weeks, I will share various options to choose from for the next week's goal. Some of the weekly artwork, except cat, includes drawing the following:
1. Ladybird
2. Parrot
3. Duck
4. Tree
5. Funny Monsters

I will start with a short story related to the animal, bird, or object for the week. Then, I will introduce and discuss the shapes that will be used in the week's drawing. In a step-wise manner, the students will then learn how to use the numbers, letters and shapes in a creative manner. The class will also be a quick review and practice to write and draw numbers and shapes. Therefore, some familiarity of numbers, letters and shapes is required.

Since the class will have high interaction with students and every student will get a chance to share their thoughts and artwork, the class size is kept small. Each student will draw their own piece of art, decorate and color it, and "show and tell" it with the class. Each student will not just show, but also tell about their artwork to the class in a short presentation to improve communication and sharing skills.

Prior knowledge required:
1. Some familiarity with numbers and letters
2. Some familiarity with basic 2D shapes

My passion towards Math and an attempt to make Math more interactive, fun, and learning for kids has enabled me to look for multiple ways to learn Math. I have privately tutored kids for Math and also taught my niece Art, English and Math from a young age. I intend to use those skills to encourage my students to draw using Math (shapes and numbers) as well as communicate their artwork in a short presentation of "show and tell" instead of only showing their artwork. This will also help them improve their English communication and presentation skills from a very young age.
