8 lessons//4 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Drawing & Shading: Elephant
Materials: Drawing paper, journal, or sketchbook; drawing pencil (2H, 4B, 6B optional); eraser. Explore the Elephant's significance to some African cultures as you study the shape and proportions of the elephant using images for reference. Participate in the step by step drawing demonstration of the elephant. The remainder of the class will be spent practicing adding value shading the elephant to give it a more three dimensional appearance.
Lesson 2
Watercolor Painting: Sea Turtle
Learn about the First Nations peoples of Australia relationship with the sea turtle. Study the shape and proportions of the sea turtle using images for reference. Participate in the step by step drawing and painting demonstration of the sea turtle. Practice glazing and wet on wet watercolor techniques to complete the painting.

Lesson 3
Drawing & Shading: Dog
Discover Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo): This hairless dog breed, originating in Mexico, was considered sacred by the Aztecs and is still seen as a national treasure in Mexico. Participate in the step by step drawing demonstration of the dog. The remainder of the class will be spent practicing adding value shading the dog to give it a more three dimensional appearance.
Lesson 4
Polymer Clay Sculpting - CAT
In ancient Egypt, cats weren't just mousers, they were mummified messengers, worshipped as gods, and purred their way into the hearts of a civilization. Learn more about the role cats played while you participate in the step by step demonstration of sculpting a cat.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Drawing and shading - DOLPHIN
Discuss ancient Greece, while learning about Poseidon's relationship with dolphins. Participate in the step by step drawing demonstration of the dolphin. The remainder of the class will be spent practicing adding value shading the dolphin to give it a more three dimensional appearance.
Lesson 6
Watercolor Painting - RABBIT
Compare the ways First Nation's people of North America associate rabbits with different traits. Study the shape and proportions of the rabbit using images for reference. Participate in the step by step drawing and painting demonstration of the rabbit. Practice glazing and wet on wet watercolor techniques to complete the painting.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Drawing and shading - HORSE
Delve into the world of Celtic mythology with horses leading the way. Participate in the step by step drawing demonstration of the horse. The remainder of the class will be spent practicing adding value shading the horse to give it a more three dimensional appearance.
Lesson 8
Polymer Clay Sculpting - PANDA
Find out more about the Panda and how much China loves them! Participate in the step by step demonstration of sculpting a panda.
  • Develop foundational artistic skills in drawing, painting, and sculpting. Gain knowledge about various animals and their habitats. Cultivate creativity and imaginative thinking through artistic expression. Explore cultural connections and perspectives related to animals. Enhance fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through art activities.
