Beginner Level
Hello Outschool Artists and Parents! In this 40 minute class, young artists will learn all about colors while creating a beautiful wax-resist watercolor of a cloudy day in the city. We will discuss color theory, focusing on primary colors and secondary colors. Learners will learn how we can create contrast with these colors. At the beginning of the lesson, learners will create an outline of a city using a pencil and a ruler. Easy to follow, step-by-step instructions will be provided. We will use crayons to create patterns in each of the buildings to represent windows. We will also use a variety of different watercolor techniques: layering, wet-on-wet (or wet wash), and wax-resist. A demonstration of each technique will be provided. Lastly, we will have fun painting the cloudy sky using the wet-on-wet technique. The last step is to find a great place in your home to hang up this beautiful masterpiece. -This class will not be cancelled due to low enrollment. See you in class soon!
