Drawing something can help you to remember it. Studies show that drawing enables learners to process information in multiple ways: visually, kinesthetically, and semantically. Researchers found drawing can be a powerful way to boost memory, increasing recall by nearly double. The Draw and Sign Club takes advantage of those benefits to help your learner be creative, practice, and remember more signs. In this ongoing class each week will feature a new basic step-by-step drawing. Some weeks we will start with drawing a letter or number and turn them into a new creature or person. Some weeks learners will get to pick what they want to draw. Learners are welcome to offer suggestions for what they would like to draw as well. As learners follow along with me for each directed drawing we will be chatting and learning the ASL signs related to our drawing subject for that week. All the drawings will be for beginners so no pressure or stress. No prior drawing or sign language experience is required to enjoy this class. Learners of all levels are welcome to join as teacher feedback will be adjusted to each learner accordingly. I hope to see you drawing and signing along with us soon!

Hello! I’m so excited for the opportunity to teach here at outschool. I have over 20 years of teaching experience. Much of my time as a volunteer teacher. I have a BA of education as well as a TESOL certificate. I have been learning and teaching American Sign Language since 2005. I spend many hours a week using and teaching others including my 5 year old son in ASL. I also have been working as an ESL teacher for over 2 years now.
I am passionate about teaching because education is so important and rewarding. Since I believe learning should be fun and challenging I like to use lots of pictures, games and activities. This really keeps the class moving and engaging.
Sign language is a huge part of my life and I enjoy teaching it. I thought it would be exciting to create classes so that kids would have fun and want to jump right in to learning sign language.
I love outdoors. We spend as much time as possible outside. Camping, hiking you name it we love it. Hope to meet you all soon!
