I like to ask students what their favorite classes are in school. After students answer, gym, I ask them what academic subject do they like. Science is often the answer. This is meant to be a fun class that will focus on using art to learn about science. The cartoon is meant to provide information in a fun way as well as to spark a discussion on information related to Mars, Jupiter, the asteroid belt, and even talk a little about how NASA has tried to find out if there is other forms of life out there. I like to use a question and answer format, where I ask a question to determine what they know, and provide answers when they are needed. I will lead the students through the project, step-by-step. I will provide the speech bubbles and show the students how to copy and paste them. I will show them how to write text. But this is too much text to write for them in the time frame. I like to share my enthusiasm about science and hope that it helps to spark interest.
