Class Experience

In this one time class, we will use basic shapes to draw and color a tiger and lion face! We will learn a few age-appropriate fun facts, and vocabulary as we draw together. Please join me for a fun discussion style, art activity that encourages writing skills, communication skills and shape recognition while learning about our animals!

Class will begin with a fun game to review the shapes needed for our drawings. Then we will practice drawing a few basic shapes together. Next, students will create the main shape of the face, then add additional shapes to create eyes, ears, nose and mouth. They are welcome to bring a stuffed animal or toy lion or tiger to show at the end of class!

This class is best suited for students who can hold and draw with a writing utensil and can also follow simple directions. We will use circles, squares, triangles and zig-zags to create our animals.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am Ms. Kiana and I love teaching early childhood! My classes will include fun art activities, a sharing time, and an educational (and sometimes silly) discussion!

Children are naturally creative and I appreciate how their artwork is authentic and always a vision that is their own. Since they love to share their ideas, it is important to me to provide opportunities for them to communicate and to be creative. I am constantly in awe of the insightful ideas and observations their little minds have!

I have a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah where I attended on a softball scholarship. For 10 years I taught at a Reggio Emilia preschool in Utah. I also worked as a teacher trainer for 3 years where I provided early childhood training to preschools in the Salt Lake valley. In 2012 my family moved to California. I am currently in my 6th year as a lead teacher for my city preschool program, which I love!

When I am not working, I love spending time with my family! We are active in sports, so we look forward to being busy again with practices and games. In my free time, the beach is my favorite place to enjoy a warm sunny day.
