Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!
My name is Teacher Melissa. I am very excited to teach your child! I am kind and patient, and I love children. This is my 21st year teaching! I spent 16 years in first grade, and I’m currently teaching my 5th year of kindergarten. My passion is helping little learners build a strong foundation of letters and sounds. I want to continue doing this through the classes I will offer on Outschool. I also plan to teach fun thematic directed drawing lessons with a bit of academics thrown in for good measure!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and a Multiple Subject teaching credential, both from San Jose State University (2000). I have also earned a Masters degree in Teaching with a Reading Specialization from National University (2011).
Outside of my classroom, I am a busy mom of 4 girls, ages 14, 13, 10, and 2 . We have a mini-farm with goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats (they might sneak into a lesson or two!). I enjoy fitness, and I have a passion for cooking as well. I look forward to joining your child on Outschool- See you soon! Show Less...
