Class Experience

Students will improve fluency, expression and reading comprehension while having fun reading dramas!  Each student will be assigned a part to read in each drama.  Teacher will do short mini-lesson at beginning of each session on Character Traits, Point of View and Summarizing.  The schedule is as follows:

1st session - Teacher will do mini-lesson on  "How to Read a Drama" and "Point of View" at beginning of session.
                       We will be reading the drama  Aesop's Fabel/The Boy Who Cried Wolf.  Each student will be given a part (or 2) to read 
                       from drama.  Teacher will model correct phrasing and expression while reading Narrator part of drama.
                       After reading drama teacher will have group discussion of what point of view the story is told.  Each student will be
                       assessed while reading and teacher will give feedback as necessary.
2nd session - Teacher will do mini-lesson on "Theme" at beginning of session.  We will be reading the drama Aesop's
                        Fable/The Tortoise and the Hare.  Each student will be given a part (or 2) to read from script.  Teacher will model 
                        correct phrasing and expression while reading Narrator part of drama.  After reading drama as group, the teacher
                        will lead group discussion to identify the theme of drama.  Each student will be encouraged to give their ideas of
                        what they believe is the theme.  Teacher will assess answers in whole group setting.

Hello!  My name is Ms. Reed and I am a retired  public school teacher with 28 years of classroom experience!  I have taught levels 1 -8 with most experience in Intermediate Levels (3-5).  I love to share my love of reading and writing with young scholars!  I believe all can learn with the desire and motivation to succeed!  I will be teaching Reading Comprehension Skills and Creative Writing to different levels of scholars!  I believe Reading is the most valuable tool of success!
