My hope is that students will practice these relaxation techniques. They can even teach their family. We all can use ways to relax and destress.Class Experience
Elementary-aged students will learn to identify some physical signals they might experience that indicate they are feeling stressed or anxious. They will also gain a basic understanding of why their body sends those signals. We will then learn and practice basic breathing, visualization, and relaxation techniques. We'll discuss times they may use the techniques. We'll talk about creating a signal with their family to help them remember to use the techniques. Students will learn from each other and discover they are not alone in their feelings of stress or anxiety. No materials are required. This class is taught in a relaxed, upbeat, non-threatening style.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice basic breathing and relaxation techniques to use when feeling stressed and anxious. They will also learn some physical signals from their body that indicate they are feeling stressed or anxious.
