1-2 hours per week. Practice learned concepts at each meal.Class Experience
We will read about, discuss, and practice proper table manners including the proper use of a napkin and each utensil. We will also discuss chewing with our lips closed, waiting for foods to be passed to us, speaking with a quiet voice, showing respect, keeping elbows off the table, and other commonly held table manners. We will also discuss the reasons it is important to use good table manners. The story will be shared using slides and we will look at pictures of both proper and improper behavior at the table. Students will evaluate each with a thumbs up or thumbs down and give reasons why improper behaviors are unacceptable. All this will be done in a kid-friendly way that is fun, engaging, and memorable!
Learning Goals
Students will demonstrate the proper use of a napkin and each dining utensil as well as speaking with a quiet voice, waiting for food to be passed, chewing with lips closed, the avoidance of slurping and burping, and keeping elbows off the table.
