What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class meets one time online for 45 minutes. It will cover books 4-6 of the "Dog Man" series by Dav Pikey. The design of this class is to engage, challenge, and celebrate readers of all levels. The interactive fun and friendly trivia games between learners during this live class will strengthen reading comprehension skills, provide good sportsmanship skills, and celebrate reading. Learners should have knowledge of the first three books in the series. If not, they need to read or listen to the books online before the class. During the online class meeting, learners will communicate by speaking to the teacher and other learners, as well as selecting the answer to questions using a device to play Kahoot as I read questions and answer choices to them aloud. I will briefly explain how the book trivia competition will work at the beginning of class. Also, learners may share their artistic representation of any part of books 4-6 in the series as the class starts. At the end of the trivia games, the learners may ask questions about the series and try to "Stump the Teacher".
Learning Goals
Students will build reading comprehension skills, a sense of community around reading, and practice good sportsmanship.

Hello OutSchool families! I'm Ms. Pate, and I love creating, teaching, and building positive relationships with students. I have 20 years of classroom experience, day camps, summer school, tutoring, and academic clubs such as science club and UIL. I love working with children, teaching, and watching them learn and grow as learners.
I have a 16 year old soon to be a junior in high school. My son is focusing on academics, choir, and his singing, I am my son's biggest supporter and fan! As he becomes more independent, I am finding myself with time I want to use in an exciting way that will help students become life-long learners. OutSchool can be a great way to use my time, creativity, and my passion for teaching kids.
I am excited about teaching for and being a part of OutSchool!
