Over the period of 4 classes, students will be guided through the process to create continue to enhance their own comic strip characters and learn additional illustration techniques. We use Dog Man comic books as the base of the learning however students are encouraged to unleash their creativity and develop their own characters and stories. Class 1 • We will open the class with introductions and students are welcome to share some of their favorite comic book work. • We will discuss superheroes' strengths, superpowers, and weaknesses. • We will talk about accessories that might be helpful to a superhero. • Students will follow a directive drawing of some of the most famous Dog Man robots and weapons Class 2 • We will talk about the value of a background in a comic panel • Students will learn about perspective and vanishing points ad examine some Dog Man settings to find examples • Following a directive, students will draw one of the Dog Man backgrounds using the techniques discussed Class 3 • We will review how important to is to have a clear story line before beginning the art, and students will brainstorm their storylines. • The students will begin to create the comic books using techniques learned in previous classes. Class 4 • Students will continue their comic books. They will be encouraged to use the various techniques the learned in class. • Students are invited to share their comics with the class Each stage of development involves sharing and discussion. Because of the age differences in this class, some students may develop more complex characters and storylines. I support each learner at their level encouraging their development. This class is a great fit for students who have completed my Dog Man Draw and Write a Comic Strip (Level 1) class where they practice drawing characters, character development and plot development. During vacation periods this class may be scheduled 1X a week for 4 weeks OR 4 times in one week. Please check the schedule carefully.

I find that students learn best when they are engaged in creative activities, conversation, and problem-solving with a teacher that they trust. I am known for my fun. interactive teaching style, I love to interject smiles and laughter into the classroom. Building confidence is the key to creating a successful learning environment so my classes are filled with positive encouragement.
I have a degree in Business Administration and Education with certification in Applied Behavioral Analysis. This education combined with my classroom, online, and homeschool experience provides me with the skills and experience to guide children to be successful.
My passions include art, writing, animals, traveling, and child growth and development. You will see these themes in the classes I teach.
I have 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren, they bring me joy! My grandchildren and their passions have provided me with some of my most fun class ideas.
I have spent the past 10 years traveling the world. I have trekked through the rainforest, swam with turtles, and enjoyed several of the wonders of the world. I have based many of my classes around these first-hand experiences.
Some fun facts about me:
I have a Havanese pup named Lola. Did you know that the Havanese breed is from Cuba and they used to be circus clowns for kings and queens? She is a riot!
I have been to Italy 11 times and I'm not even Italian!
I used to be a dental assistant so I love to go to the dentist!
