Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Would you like to learn all about the stingray? Maybe you know a lot about stingrays and would like to share all about it!

This is the lesson for you! You will also have a chance to answer questions and read too!

Comprehension skills are vital when trying to pass exams at schools. This lesson is a straight forward fun lesson where students will learn all about the stingray fish. I will share my screen, via Zoom , the lesson, so children can read along and discuss the material.

The aim of this lesson is to improve comprehension in Nonfiction.

Parent's note: Children's ability to understand new vocabulary in a given text is closely linked to good comprehension skills in reading. Teachers work really hard to include this in the curriculum but it is time consuming. This short but information packed lesson will give children uninterrupted time to practice and hone their skills in this area. The goal is to get children to enjoy discussion based and comprehension activities.

This is a colorful lesson about the stingray, including a focus on the effect of climate change on the manta ray population - a species of stingray. If your child loves learning about animals they should enjoy learning about the stingray.

What is covered and featured in this lesson?

* What is a stingray?
* Facts about stingrays
* Stingrays and climate change
* Activities
* Embedded videos
* Colorful photos and illustrations

This lesson is great for both speakers of American, British, Australian, Irish, South African, New Zealand etc English. It is also suitable for children who are learning in international schools where English is a second language but the main instructional language is English.

Any new and technical vocabulary will be explained and children will have a change to use new words in sentence that they can use in their work in school.
