Sitting at home, hanging out with family, or playing in the yard, anything can inspire creativity. And sometimes, creativity needs to be discovered and documented for the delights of everyone involved. In my fun three-day interactive class, you will learn to photography your day to day life, no experience needed, and just a willingness to have fun. From kids playing in the yard to tiny objects you find on a table. You will learn how to beautifully compose tight shots and wide-angle images in your environment with a broader range of perspectives. With 21 years of documentary experience, I remember what it was like to be a young kid with a camera. Exploring your world, you notice everything and discover much more with a camera. Let's take those experiences to a new level. Week 1: We will get to know each other and your photographic interests. Next, we'll go over composition and documentary skills. You will leave thinking about a topic for a photography story and researching documentary photographers. We will talk about one documentary photographer to talk about for day 3. Weel 2: I want to see what you came up with; you don't have to edit your images. Your images can come directly from your camera. During this time, we'll go over any technical issues you may have had and how to improve. We'll end it with some examples of documentary photographers. Week 3: Images are shown on the last day of class. Up to ten images can be printed, shown in-camera, or any way you want them presented. Just let me know in advance. I will adapt class, as best as possible, for the needs of the student. A fun learning environment is necessary. I understand students might not get the best experience sitting in front of the computer. Within the three weeks, I rotate verbal lessons with photographic practice to give students a well-rounded experience. **If you do not see an available time for your learner, please let me know. I do my best to schedule classes, but I am willing to schedule on weekday mornings and afternoons, or evenings if requested.** #Creative

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from University of Florida
With a strong passion for art education and a decade of experience in teaching and photography, I am excited about working in the creative environment of Art education.
From 2013-2020, I had the privilege of teaching photography at the Palm Beach Photography Centre. This experience not only honed my instructional skills but also deepened my understanding of the value of fostering creativity and artistic expression in children and adults. My tenure there allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of art education on young minds.
In addition to my teaching role, I dedicated time to enrich myself in K-13 education further. Working as a substitute teacher, I immersed myself in various classrooms, learning from seasoned educators and adopting diverse teaching strategies. This experience, combined with my background as a practicing photographer, uniquely equips me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, inspiring students to explore their artistic talents and push their creative boundaries.
I am drawn to online education for its reputation as an institution that values innovative teaching methods and encourages students to embrace artistic experimentation. I am excited about the prospect of contributing and helping students develop not only as skilled artists but also as critical thinkers and confident individuals.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism and Communications and a focus in the Fine Arts.
