Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Attention!

Calling all trainee mathematicians.

Fall in for 5 days of fun maths where we grow and strengthen our division skills.

Activities will include:
> Daily Drills
> Progress Charts
> Practice Exercises
> Passing Out Parade and Certificates for all

In between lessons I will give you plenty of resources to test out your new skills and apply them to improve fluency. They come with full instructions and I will guide your child on which will be beneficial to practice after each lesson. You will also be able to use these resources after the Boot Camp to keep the learning current.

Videos to watch related to the content of the class.
Worksheets to practice at further depth.
Stretch: New learning for learners who want to stretch themselves further.

Further Details
During this Division Boot Camp lessons we will:
- Check fluency with times tables from 1 to 12. (I will share resources to strengthen these if required).

- Complete timed division activities at the start of each lesson so learners can check their progress.

- Track progress on a visual chart through a series of recall-mini tests.

- Learn about at Fact Families to make connections between multiplication and division.

- Learn different methods of dividing multiple digit numbers.

- Practice division activities during the lesson and in-between lessons at home with resources provided.

Three ways you can continue to strengthen and embed your division skills following our Boot Camp:
-	FLASH CARDS - I recommend you continue practicing with the flash cards until you have memorised ALL of your division methods and can recall them fluently.
-	WORKSHEETS - The Worksheets will help embed this learning.
-	TEST YOURSELF - If you want to check how much you have remembered, then you can always get someone to time you repeating the Drills we do at the start of every class?
These are all, research proven, effective ways of learning and storing learning in your long-term memory – for any topic or subject.

Please note that during the holidays this bootcamp has a waiting list, however during term time there are occasions when enrolments are lower. As a result it is necessary to have a minimum enrolment of 3 because experience tells us that learners enjoy the class better when learning alongside others. If the minimum is not met then Mrs Jones will let you know a week before class starts and a new class will be scheduled at a similar time on a later date that suits your schedule.

Note: If your child starts this class and I can see that they are not fluent with all their multiplication skills yet I will recommend my Multiplication Boot Camp which runs most weeks.

I might even recommend that they graduate from a Multiplication Boot Camp before continuing with the Division Boot Camp at a later date because being confident and fluent recalling multiplication facts will make division so much more enjoyable for your kid.

Mrs Jones has a series of Boot Camps that are designed to follow on from each other
1. Multiplication Boot Camp
2. Division Boot Camp
3. Fraction Boot Camp

Learning Goals

Students will learn how multiplication and division connect within the 1-12 times table.
They will learn different methods for dividing multiple digit numbers.
Concepts such as 'fact families' enable students to make connections between times tables and between multiplication and division.
For students who want extra challenge I will introduce the connection to future math concepts such as square numbers and square roots.
