US Grade 1 - 3
In this ongoing course, students will practice writing once a week. The classes do not build upon each other so students can join the class anytime. During each class, students will brainstorm with a graphic organizer and will write a paragraph. The students will be adding details to their writing throughout each class. Students will be adding details in two ways: 1.) Using the Five Senses - Look - Feel - Sound - Taste - Smell 2.) Asking Questions for Details - How? - Where? - When? - What? - Why? This class is designed to give students time to practice their writing. Students will not be revising or editing their writing in this class. Below is a breakdown of each class: ***** Topic Introduction ***** At the beginning of each class, students will be introduced to the topic. Students will write on a different topic each class. ***** Graphic Organizer ***** Students will brainstorm with a graphic organizer. I will model how to fill out the graphic organizer first. Then, students will fill out their own graphic organizer with their own ideas. As students are brainstorming, they will also be including details using various adjectives. ***** Writing ***** Students will write a paragraph. I will model how to use the graphic organizer to organize the writing into a paragraph. As students are writing, I will check-in with each student. I will be asking students to share the ideas that they are writing about. If students are struggling on what to write, I will give them a few ideas. ***** Sharing ***** At the end of each class, students will be given an opportunity to share their writing with the group. Students will read their writing to the class. Students are also welcome to send me their writing in a message. Since each student writes at a different pace, some students may need extra time after class to complete their writing. ****************************************************************************************************************** This class is an ongoing class. Teacher expertise and credentials

Bachelor's Degree in Education from Montana State University - Northern
I have worked in an elementary school for the past thirteen years. I have recognized that many students do not add descriptive words and details to their writing. It takes practice for students to learn how to add descriptive details in their writing. This class will give students practice in writing a paragraph and adding details to their own writing.
