What's included

Class Experience

This four week  flex class will be an overview of all preschool math skills and is perfect for children who are currently in preschool or for those who are entering Kindergarten.  All activities will include Disney princesses.  

A teacher made video will be posted at the beginning of each week to introduce what the students will learn that week.  There will also be several other videos provided throughout the week that will demonstrate specific strategies and show step by step how to complete assigned activities, in addition to teacher read alouds that focus on the week's skills. Students will be asked to post pictures of their work in the classroom.  The teacher will provide feedback through comments and videos and will encourage the students throughout each week. 

Students will have several options for assignments and activities will include cut and paste activities, crafts and drawings, worksheets, sorts, scavenger hunts and games.   This class will also use Flipgrid, which is a platform that allows the teacher and students to share videos with each other based on a given assignment, as well as Boom Learning, which allow students to complete activities that are self-checked and which the teacher can monitor and check progress.  Details regarding how to use this site will be provided after sign up. All activities used on these website are teacher made and align with the topics and theme of the class. 

During the first week of class, students will be asked to record and post a video on Flipgrid to introduce themselves.  They will be asked to say their name, how old they are and name their favorite Disney princess. 

Week 1- Shapes and Colors
During this week, students will practice identifying the names of shapes and their attributes.   They will also practice sorting objects by shape and color. They will also practice positional words (top, down, in front of, being, over, under, next to).   Students will also have the opportunity to practice building shapes. The teacher will post a videos reading a Disney Princess shapes book, and a Disney Princess colors book.   Activities this week will include a scavenger hunt in which the students look for shapes around their house, cut and paste shape and color sorting activities, shape crafts, and Boom Learning activities, which will all be Disney Princess themed.  There were also be opportunities for students to share their work through videos on flipgrid. 

Week 2-Counting and Number Recognition
During this week, students will practice counting to 20, count the number of objects up to 20, and practice writing numbers 0-5.  This weeks activities will a similar format to the previous week and will include counting crafts, Boom Learning activities, worksheets and counting activities.  Students will also have the opportunity to count objects in their home and will also be given objects that they can cut and count. 

Week 3-Comparing Numbers
Students will practice and be taught strategies to identify whether the number of objects in one group is more, less, greater than, fewer, and/or equal to the number of objects in another group.  Students will complete cut and paste activities in which they make groups that are more and groups that are less than a given amount. They will also complete simple worksheets in which they circle the group that is more or the group that is less and will be given several activities they may complete on Boom Learning. 

Week 4 and 5- Basic Addition and Subtraction and Simple Patterns
During this week, students will practice completing simple addition and subtraction by using objects, fingers and real life situations (with sums up to 5).  They will also practice completing simple patterns using concrete objects.  The activities will include cutting and pasting objects to model addition, and cut and paste and craft activities in which they create or complete patterns.  

Week 6-Review.  Students will participate in activities that will reinforce what they have learned during the class.

My name is Danielle and I am a NY state certified early childhood and elementary school teacher, for both general education and special education students.    I have been a full time classroom teacher for 10 years and have been tutoring students from preschool to college for over 15 years.   My bachelors degree is in History and English and my masters degree is in general and special education. 

I am the mother of a three year old girl. I am a lover of all things Disney and am a kid at heart.
