Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
What time is it? It's circle time! Our Disney friends are here to join us, too!

In this ongoing course, we will meet 2 times per week to have circle time.
⭐️ Since this is an ongoing course, you may join in at any time! We will not be going in a particular order, so please feel free to come and go as you please. Since this is an ongoing course, you will be charged weekly (on Sundays) to attend class.

We will start off class by saying hello to each other and singing our welcome song. Then, we will go over the calendar and figure out what day of the week it is and what month we're in. This is an excellent concept for children to learn and understand as they are entering into Kindergarten. Then, we will talk about what the weather is like and how we're feeling. We will also have a new question of the day. Questions will vary, but an example of a question would be: "What is your favorite food?" Each student will have the opportunity to share their answer with the rest of the class.

Then, we will move onto talking about the following concepts: letter of the week, number of the week, shape of the week, and/or color of the week:

🔸 Letter: Learn to identify our letter, learn about its letter sound, locate different objects that start with our letter, + practice writing our letter
🔸 Number: Learn to identify our number + practice counting to our number
🔸 Shape: Learn to identify our shape + talk about different objects that are the same as our shape (ex. sun is round like a circle)
🔸 Color: Sing our rainbow song + talk about different things that match our color of the week

At this time, I like to present clues for learners so they can guess who our Disney character of the week is! Based on the clues provided, each learner will have the opportunity to guess who they think our character is, if they choose to. Some week we may have 1 Disney character that joins us, others we may have 2 or more! I will incorporate 1 song that goes along with our character to get some music and dancing into class!

Each week, I will have a worksheet that covers the letter, number, shape, and color of the week. While it's not mandatory for you to print out and use these worksheets, I find it to be beneficial for learners. Not only will we go over the worksheet in class together, but it's also great practice for you to work on outside of class, if you choose to do so. I have many other resources as well that I am happy to share with you if that's something that interests you. If you don't have a printer, a blank sheet of paper or a dry-erase board works great.

🖍🧸 On Thursdays, we will do a craft that goes along with our letter of the week. For example, we may make a "C is for Cat" craft. I really enjoy incorporating these crafts into my classes because I think it's a great way for learners to practice their letters and letter sounds in a fun, hands-on way! Also on Thursdays, learners are encouraged to bring in 1 item to share with the class for show-and-tell. This will take place at the end of class. Usually, I like to tie our show-and-tell into either our letter of the week, shape of the week, or color of the week. For example, a learner may bring in a Bear to go along with letter B. In the classroom page, I will let you know at the beginning of each week what our plan is for show-and-tell.

- - Here is a tentative outline of our class schedule - -

⭐️ Tuesdays:
- Hello and Welcome
- Calendar/Weather

- Letter of the Week
- Disney Character Reveal

⭐️ Thursdays:
- Hello and Welcome
- Calendar/Weather
- Color (or Shape) of the Week

This class is a fun way for students to come together to socialize and have fun, while also learning key concepts. This class will help them get ready for Kindergarten with some excellent key concepts under their belt!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, my name is Miss Alyssa. Welcome to my classroom!

I am a positive and enthusiastic teacher who loves to integrate fun into my classroom. I have my Bachelor's degree in Education. I have been teaching for 5 years. I have taught Preschool and Pre-K. Currently, I teach 5th grade.

I truly believe that children learn best not only when they're engaged, but also when they're having fun! That’s why I strive to make learning fun for all children.

What does my classroom look like? My classes will offer slideshow presentations, movement/brain breaks, music and stories, arts and crafts, experiments, and open discussions. Each class will be engaging, interactive, and student-centered. I offer the 3-step approach to learning: I do, we do, you do. With this approach, I first model the lesson and show the expectations. Then, we try it out together as a group. Lastly, students are encouraged to try on their own. I will support students in whichever way they need that fits their individual learning style.

I love to take the interests of my students and integrate them into my lessons. I believe that children are more eager to participate when they are truly enjoying the lesson!

I am so excited to meet your learners in class & I hope to spark their love for learning the same way that my teachers did when I was young!❤️

If you have any questions about classes, please reach out and send me a message. Parent/teacher communication is important to me, and I would love to work together to meet the needs of your child.
