US Grade 4 - 6
The students will have access to a world map they can download and print out. During class we will locate Ukraine on the map and then discuss its location in concerns with the Continent, Hemisphere, coastal or landlocked. We will also discuss climate, language and food. We will use this information to do a brief comparison to the country the students live in. The students can make a mark on their map after "visiting" Ukraine. This can be a one time class if there is a specific country of interest or an ongoing adventure discovering many countries for a number of weeks. In this class we will focus on Ukraine, an amazing country I had the opportunity to visit on numerous occasions while working on a cruise ship.
Learning Goals
The students will learn the different continents, how seasons are affected by the different hemispheres as well as gain insight into different cultures to foster a better understanding of the world.

Due to the current situation between Ukraine and Russia I realize students may want to talk about it. I plan to approach the topic in an unbiased manner without taking sides, rather focusing on the beauty of Ukraine and steering the students away from controversial topics.
