US Grade 3 - 4
Students will be introduced to Antarctica through Google slides, peer and teacher interaction. Did you know that Antarctica is the southernmost continent on Earth? The South Pole is found in Antarctica and most of Antarctica is covered in ice!! These are just some of the interesting and "cool" facts we will learn about in class. As a class we will work together to create an anchor chart using facts learned from Google Slides. We will review vocabulary words using a word wall. As a class we will discuss Antarctica and why it is the coldest and snowiest continent. The class is structured each day for students to interact with peers and teacher. This class will meet for 1 week, 5 times, for 35 minutes. Day 1: Students will make a pocketbook to keep all of the activities in. Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctica facts. Markers, paper and pencil are needed. Construction paper is encouraged to create the pocket book. A one page handout for this day is needed. Day 2: Antarctica Vocabulary Cards Glaciers, Emperor penguin, scientist, Orca whale, research station and south pole. A one-page handout for this day will be needed. Day 3: We will review classes 1 and 2. As a class, students will work on a map of Antarctica. A one-page handout for this day will be needed. Day 4: Students will complete the graphic organizer and write a short paragraph as a class with teacher input and peer input. A one-page handout for this day will be needed. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Brienna. Students can call me Ms. B.
When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught.
I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games.
I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.
With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
I cannot wait to teach your children here at Outschool!
