In this class, students will learn how to draw a Mexican mythical creature known as an Alebrije while learning Spanish vocabulary related to animals. In the first part of the class, students will learn about the history of Alebrijes and will get a chance to see Mexican artisans creating Alebrijes by watching a video on YouTube. Using slides, students will then learn Spanish vocabulary related to animals and will play a vocabulary review game. Next, we will use the website Switch Zoo as inspiration to create our own mythical creatures. After brainstorming ideas, students will be able to draw and color their own mythical creatures.
