Class Experience

In this fun and engaging hands on 30-minute class, students will learn how to draw a new dinosaur each week by learning about shapes, line, and color! But most of all, having fun! We will use materials such as paper, pencil, erasers, and their choice of paint, markers, or crayons. Students will learn about how to draw using shapes and lines as well as how to use new materials and techniques. This class is a wonderful way for your child to expand upon their skill set and find creative ways of using different media!

Class structure :
Part 1-Students are greeted with a hello song and will learn about some different shapes that they can use to make the dinosaur of the week. We will also go over the materials used in our class.
Part 2- Students grab their materials and they are guided to begin to make our shapes on the paper. While students are guided we will listen to dinosaur and jungle noises!
Part 3-Once students have their dinosaur drawn with pencil or crayon, we will begin to outline our dinosaur, and then color it with crayons or paint. It is their artistic choice!
Part 4- Show time! We will show our dinosaur to one another and end class by having a virtual art show and a goodbye song. Students will give their best dinosaur sound, and describe their new dinosaur!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Samantha. I love to teach unique art classes that teach children about art technique through creative learning. I teach dinosaur drawing classes using shapes and sounds, graffiti drawing classes, various mixed media classes, and oil painting! I also like to incorporate music into my classes.

In 2010 I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. I have taught kids ages 4-10 for ten years. I was a lead art instructor for children’s classes in school and at various art centers in New York. In these classes I constructed curricula to teach printmaking, sculpture with clay miniatures, and various painting and drawing classes. I have also taught various mural painting workshops for children in Spain.

My classes are about learning art techniques through creative play. I like to engage my students by starting with a game or a song. I structure my classes with a specific plan to keep students engaged. It is important for me to let them explore their own creative painting and drawing techniques through making art. I also have a virtual art show to share what we have made!

I have my own radio show about art!
